Today, I did some planning for my final project for my production private lessons with Tom Ionescu. Tom wanted me to create a document proposal that listed all the ideas I had for what I would like to record for my drum pack. He asked if I could include a variety of items to track, including one shot hits and loops, in both MIDI as well as using acoustic drums.
I decided to go off of what Tom had suggested, which was to make a drum pack based on samples that would be beneficial to producers to have, or essentially things that are underrated or uncommon ie., harder to find. I came up with a few variations including tambourine hits, claps, cross stick, ride bell, and kick shell. For the loops, I wanted to do some gospel grooves that I couldn’t find as easily in XLN’s list of MIDI packs.
My next step for this project was to record these proposed ideas, which I aimed at beginning tomorrow.
Another task I accomplished today was getting Notion up and running! I downloaded a lovely Notion template that was designed by a producer named PLV music. This template is called the “Producer Dashboard”, and it features several tools such as a client database, song tracker, productivity Hub, finance tracker, and social media tracker!
When I opened this template, I was initially overwhelmed, but I was grateful PLV also provided me with a tutorial video on how to navigate the template! Although I didn’t have too much time to play around with the customization today, I am sure I will be doing this soon.
Thank you to PLV for providing music producers with this template!
