Today, I had some final preparations to do for my capstone recording project tracking that was going to take place tomorrow.

I needed to program a rough percussion track that Tudor and the band could play along to. For this, I decided to go into Logic’s drummer and created a demo percussion part.

I used snaps as the base line for this percussion track, and then added other elements such as a sixteenth note shaker, sixteenth note tambourine as well as some congas. Once these sounds were chosen, I had to play around with when I wanted to these textures to come in and out based on the arrangement of the song “Lean on Me”.

After I had a percussion part I was happy with, I decided to export these as a consolidated track to be able to import it to a new Pro Tools session.

In this new Pro Tools session, I also had to import some synth sounds Brandon programmed for me since meeting on the weekend. I imported these into Pro Tools as separate tracks, and made sure to colour code them as well.
