After a late St. Patrick’s night, I woke up feeling inspired after some meaningful conversations with Brandon, an artist I am working with. I took this inspiration and decided to channel it into writing another song.

I titled this song “Breakthrough”, since the main hook of the song featured the line: “I’ll be breaking through”. It served as a reminder for me to keep pushing forward despite all the difficulties life may offer. I wanted to also keep similar to the theme of the previous song I wrote called “Forward or Back”, which also had this theme.

I didn’t have as much of a melody worked out for this tune compared to “Forward or Back”, but I knew that in time it would come to me. I was trying my best to be authentic to what I am experiencing in life right now. 

Later in the day, I decided to go visit Mike at the Uptown Social jam in Burlington. It was nice being able to jam with his house band: “Pop Machine”, while playing some familiar classics such as “Dreams” and “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondies. 

After spending a bit of time at this jam, I was also invited to go jam at the Casbah with Lance and Kirsty. There was some really cool talent here, and I got a chance to jam with Isaac and Lennox!
