This morning was the morning of the gospel service. We had a quick review of the songs we practiced on Thursday, and we all felt ready to go.
The service itself was beautiful, and the message was for us to do our best to be still. This isn’t an easy task, because we are constantly surrounded by distractions. However, if you make time for it, I believe it is possible!
There was also a cool moment in one of the songs where the music director, Adrien, wanted me to do a drum break with the voices. I was ready to play my standard groove that I was used to, but I was surprised to find myself playing some “gospel” chops, and that they actually worked! It was great seeing Adrien and the crew feeling excited about my playing.
After the service, LJ took a moment to introduce some new lyrics he wrote for a tune called “Grace Unveiled”. I really like the lyrics he came up with for the chorus. I tried my best to help him find a good rhythm for these lyrics, and hum a sample melody for them. LJ liked the rhythm, and built upon the melody I was singing. Once we found a melody that we both liked, I decided to record a voice memo of it to make sure we have it for future reference, as I suggested in my blog post yesterday!
Even though I had a goal of sitting down to write “Healed and Whole” today after church, I was okay that it didn’t get done. I didn’t want it to be rushed, so I decided to take the evening to relax for St. Patrick’s day with some friends!
I hope you all had a great weekend! Hope you are enjoying these blog posts, and remember to keep on growing and being inspired đ
